Rambagh Palace, the then summer retreat of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and now a famous tourist attraction of Amritsar. Rambagh Palace is famed for its gorgeous garden that houses varieties of rare flowers and trees. This garden is designed on the lines of Shalimar Bagh of Lahore. Sprawling Rambagh Palace garden is spread in an area of about 81 acres.

The monument was originally constructed at the cost of about 1.25 lakh Nanakshahi Rupees.The garden of the complex was named after fourth Sikh guru and founder of the Amritsar city, Guru Ram Das . 

A two storey building stands in the middle of the stunning gardens; this building was the Summer Palace of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The king used to spend days here during summers. The cool underground apartments were made to keep king and his family in a pleasant environment even when scorching heat was at its strongest. A pool for the ladies was built in the close vicinity.

The palace is accessible from four gateways. The influence of Punjabi and Rajasthani architectural style is visible these. Many rooms of the palace were adorned with special Kashmiri woodcraft false ceilings that were crafted in Khatamband style.

Rambagh Palace is a famous tourist attraction of Amritsar. It is called as one of the finest gardens of Punjab.

The features of the complex include exclusive trees and plants, horse riding statue off Maharaja Ranjit Singh and remarkable water channels. Fountains and golden fishes add to the beauty of ponds add to the beauty of garden.

 The complex is surrounded by 14 feet high walls. All the corners of the garden have small towers.   

The erstwhile summer abode i.e luxurious palace of the royals is now turned into a museum. The museum is called Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum. It houses Maharaja’s shields, swords, replicas of Kohinoor diamond and the golden throne of the king.  

The monument remains open for all days of the week except for Wednesdays.
